School Services
Seedling Heart Child Development Centre is dedicated to supporting children and adolescents with special educational needs (SEN) through clinical psychology, speech therapy, and occupational therapy services. We provide professional assessments and therapeutic interventions to address behavioral, emotional, social, and learning challenges in their developmental journey.
We also collaborate with schools and educational institutions to deliver school-based services. Depending on their needs, we offer tailored support for students with SEN, including clinical psychological counseling, occupational therapy, and mindfulness groups. In addition, we provide seminars, training, and workshops for teachers and parents on topics such as mindful parenting, parent management skills, and the Circle of Security® parenting program.
Over the past twenty years, Ms. Venus Yiu, founder of the Centre, has served as a clinical psychologist at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital, Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital, and United Christian Hospital, providing psychological services to children, adolescents, university students, and adults. She has also delivered diagnostic assessments, consultations, and staff training for Po Leung Kuk Residential Child Care Service and Hong Kong Children & Youth Services, supporting the mental health of children and adolescents in residential care.
From 2018 to 2023, Venus was invited by the I-Well Centre of The Education University of Hong Kong to serve as a guest lecturer for the Education Bureau’s Mental Health Courses. These courses were designed to equip in-service primary and secondary school teachers with foundational knowledge and practical skills in fostering student mental health. Participants gained a deep understanding of psychosis, depression, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder, alongside recommended intervention approaches. Teachers were trained to recognize warning signs of suicidal behavior and develop essential gatekeeping skills for timely intervention. A review of our team’s service record at Seedling Heart:
