Venus loves sports, music and art. This book was awarded in the Hong Kong Publishing Award in the category of top ten psychology books.

She worked at the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders at Boston University (CARD) for summer internship in 2006, specializing in evidence based assessment and cognitive behavioral therapy.

  • Dr. Wong graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a master’s degree in clinical psychology in 1995 and has since qualified as a clinical psychologist. In 2009, he was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy degree in clinical psychology by the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Dr. Wong first worked as a clinical psychologist in the Correctional Services Department, and was later employed by the Hospital Authority for more than 25 years.
  • Dr. Wong has rich and comprehensive experience in clinical psychological assessment and treatment for adolescence, adult, and elderly. Dr. Wong has served for hospital departments, including United Christian Hospital Department of Psychiatry, United Christian Hospital Medical paediatric, adolescent and adult medicine departments (including Surgery, Internal Medicine, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, Pain Medicine, Neurology, Diabetes Clinic, Oncology, ENT, Family Medicine, etc.), Tseung Kwan O Hospital Psychiatry, Tseung Kwan O Hospital (paediatric, adolescent, adult medicine), etc. In addition to providing assessment services and psychotherapy, Dr. Wong has for many years written a number of intellectual assessment reports, court reports, and psychological reports for patients who sustained work-related injuries or trauma after traffic accidents, and has accumulated considerable experience.
  • Dr. Wong was the Vice-Chairman of the Division of Clinical Psychology of the Hong Kong Psychological Society (2009 – 2012). Committed to promoting mental health education and evidence-based psychotherapy, he is an honorary clinical supervisor of the Departments of Psychology of the University of Hong Kong and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and an honorary psychotherapy supervisor for the Department of Psychiatry of United Christian Hospital. He helped to train clinical psychologist trainees and provided psychotherapy supervision for psychiatry residents.
  • Dr. Wong has all along endorsed evidence-based practice in providing psychological treatments. For many years, he has applied cognitive-behavioral therapy to various mental and medical problems. Mental problems include depression, mixed anxiety and depressive disorder, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders, body dysmorphic disorder, somatic symptom disorder, schizophrenia, delusional disorder, anorexia nervosa, binge eating disorder, kleptomania, Asperger’s disorder, autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, neurocognitive disorders, adjustment disorder, personality disorder, persistent complex bereavement, parenting stress, stress related to marital problems, divorce, work, emigration, and more.
  • Dr. Wong has always been keenly interested in the “third-wave” cognitive behavioral therapies. Dr. Wong received training from acceptance and commitment therapy masters Dr. Steven Hayes and Dr. Robyn Walser, and applied acceptance and commitment therapy to various mental and emotional problems as well as psychological adjustment caused by medical problems, and achieved good results. He was also trained in mindfulness-based therapy by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, who is the first Western scholar in the study and application of mindfulness to psychological problems.
  • In terms of books, he has co-authored two books in Chinese: “Don’t Play Tug-of-War with Your Inner Monster” (Anthony Tong & Tony Wong, published in 2022), which introduced to the public a guide to living by acceptance and commitment therapy, and “Mindfulness: Minding, Knowing and Healing the Mind” (Division of Clinical Psychology of the Hong Kong Psychological Society, published in 2017), which is the first ever Chinese book in Hong Kong introducing mindfulness based therapy.
  • Dr. Wong has also provided training for various universities, educational institutions, non-government organizations, professional groups, etc. for many years. He hosted lectures and workshops on mental health, and had been interviewed by different media many times to deliver messages on mental health, stress management and emotion management.
